📅Send a google calendar invitation to new live participants

Transmit your spot data to your calendar!

Use Zapier

With Zapier, you can connect MeltingSpot to hundreds of other web services! Automated connections, called Zaps, can automate your daily tasks and create workflows (scenarios) between applications that would otherwise be impossible to connect - all without coding! Each Zap has a trigger, where your information comes from and causes one or more actions in other applications, where your data is sent automatically.

Create your google calendar event

In order to invite your participants to a google calendar event, you have to create this event. To do this, each time you create a live on MeltingSpot, add this live on Google Calendar by clicking on the "Add to calendar" button and choose "Google Calendar". An event will automatically be created in your Google Calendar on the right day, at the right time with the name of your Live!

In order to do your tests, create an event with the name "LiveName".

Connecting Zapier with MeltingSpot

Setting up Zapier with MeltingSpot is very easy. No need to code, just follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for Zapier (or log in if you already have an account).

  2. On your Zapier landing page, click on MAKE A ZAP.

  3. Name your zap in the upper left corner.

  4. Choose "Webhook by Zapier" as the application and "catch a Hook" as the event, and click Continue. The event allows you to start a Zap with a specific application. In our case, it is MeltingSpot that manages the tracking of this event so the Zap must simply listen to what MeltingSpot will send it.

  5. In the Trigger part, you can choose which data you want to retrieve. Feel free to look at the data that is sent here. By default, Zap sends all the data.

  6. Retrieve the URL present in the Test part of your Zap

  1. Create your Webhook on MeltingSpot by selecting "Live participant created" and using the URL retrieved in the previous point.

  2. Do a Test on the MeltingSpot side.

  3. Then go back to your Zap and click on the "Test trigger" button. The format and details of the data sent will be displayed.

That's it, your Zap is connected with MeltingSpot!

Define the action

Now that your trigger is set up, you can use the information sent by MeltingSpot to Zapier to trigger "actions".

You can add as many actions as you need in a Zap. To add members to a Google Calendar event, you need to split the action in 2: first search for the event and then add members to the event.

Search for the event

  1. Choose "Google Calendar" as the application and "Find an event" as the event, and click Continue. The event allows you to start a Zap with a specific application. In our case, it is MeltingSpot that manages the tracking of this event, so the Zap just has to listen to what MeltingSpot will send it.

  2. Log in to your Google Calendar account (or choose an account that is already connected to your Zapier).

  3. Choose the calendar in which you want to search for the event.

  4. Fill in the Search Term field with the variable "LiveName" and continue.

  5. Test the action to make sure Zap finds the event you created at the beginning.

Invite members

  1. Add an action by clicking on the "+".

  2. Choose "Google Calendar" as the application and "Add attendee/s to event" as the event, and click Continue. The event allows to start a Zap with a specific application. In our case, it is MeltingSpot that manages the tracking of this event, so the Zap must simply listen to what MeltingSpot will send it.

  3. Log in to your Google Calendar account (or choose an account that is already connected to your Zapier).

  4. Choose the calendar in which you want to search for the event.

  5. Select the event you just found.

  6. Fill in the Attendee/s field with the member's email and click Continue.

  7. Test the action to make sure the member is correctly invited to the corresponding live event.

  8. Finally, publish your Zap! Your Zap is now ready!
