# Reacting to a message

## Add the first reaction to a message

To react to a message in a channel or thread, hover over it with your mouse: the "add a reaction" button will appear in the form of a smiley icon. Click on it to open the emoji keyboard!

Repeat the action as many times as you like to add several reactions.

{% hint style="info" %}
The member whose message you are reacting to will not receive a notification.
{% endhint %}

When you move your mouse over a reaction, the list of members who have reacted is displayed!

## Add other reactions

If a reaction has already been added to a message, you can add another reaction:

* By clicking on the emoji of the reaction already added to add the same reaction.
* By clicking on the add reaction button that appears to the right of the already existing reactions to the message.
