πŸ–οΈWriting a message

You don't have to be Shakespeare to write a message in a channel!

When you enter a Discussions channel, your cursor is automatically placed at the start of the text field at the bottom of the channel. Now you can start writing a message πŸ’₯

1. Add text

Write the text you want and double-click on it to access the formatting bar. Using the formatting, you can make your text bold, italic or underlined, cross it out, present it as a bulleted or numbered list, or as a quote.

In a text field, you can integrate external links using the πŸ”— button, emojis using the ☺️ button, or member mentions using the @ button.

An external link must be added in "http://" or "https://" format to be valid.

2. Add an image or gif

Click on the πŸ–ΌοΈ button in the block edit bar. A drop-down menu with 2 choices opens.

  • Click on Import an image to import an image or gif stored on your device. The image must be no larger than 5 MB.

  • Click on From a link to import an image associated with a URL address.

When importing an image or GIF, its format will default to the width of the block. You can, however, change its size by dragging one of the surrounding gray sidebars.

3. Embed external content

To be valid, the content to be integrated must be in the form of a URL link of type "http://" or "https://".

Use the drop-down menu to specify the source of this content, for example, Loom, Vimeo or Typeform. If the source of the content you want to add doesn't belong to this list, don't hesitate to try and integrate it anyway by choosing <> Other, as many formats are supported πŸ˜‰.

By default, the content format adapts to the width of the block. However, you can modify the size in the same way as for images or GIFs (see above).

4. Insert code

You can insert code into your messages. To do this, you have 2 types of rendering: code and code block.

  • The code function lets you put a single word in code form. It can be applied :

    • By clicking on the <> icon in the action bar that appears when you highlight a word

    • By pressing Ctrl + E

    • Rendering example: Code

    • You can choose the language used by clicking on the Plain text button on the right.

    • Example of rendering:

<p> Hello everyone! </p>

Send your message

Once your message is ready, click on the send arrow at the bottom right of the text editor: that's it, your message is sent straight away!
