πŸ—οΈModular Spot

Simplify your members' experience by offering them only the sections that are relevant to your use.

From your Spot settings, you can choose which sections you want to enable or disable:

  • the Home Page,

  • Lives,

  • Discussions,

  • Collections,

  • the Members Directory.

Activate or deactivate a module

To activate or deactivate a section, go to the settings of your Spot, in the "Features" menu. This menu is also accessible directly from the "Manage my Spot" button on the menu bar.

Consequences of deactivating a section

When a section is deactivated, only the Spot admins have access to it. For them, it is simply grayed out in the navigation bar.

For members, the menu entry is hidden. If they open the URL of the disabled section, then they are redirected to the first enabled section.

Home page

  • If you mention someone on the Home Page when it is disabled, that person will not receive a notification of that mention.

Lives

  • If you mention someone in the description or discussion of a live, they will not receive a notification of that mention.

  • You will no longer be able to invite members to a live.

  • Notifications related to lives (such as "this live is about to start") are disabled both by email and within the site.

  • Upcoming lives will no longer be included in the email digest.

Discussions

  • If you mention someone in a channel, that person will not receive a notification of that mention.

  • New posts in channels will no longer be included in the email digest.

  • Channel notifications (such as receiving a new message) are disabled both by email and within the site.

  • You will no longer be able to add a member to a channel.

  • The "auto join" feature of channels still works.

Collections

  • If you mention someone on a collection page, that person will not receive a notification of that mention.

  • New links or pages added to collections will no longer be included in the email digest.

Member Directory

  • There are no particular consequences to disabling the Members module.

Display a default message when no section is visible

You can set a message that will be displayed in case a visitor does not have access to any module.

This case occurs in the following cases:

  • If you have disabled all sections of your Spot, then any visitor who is not an admin of the Spot will see this message.

  • If you have disabled only the "public" sections by default (Homepage and Lives), then visitors who are neither logged in nor members will see this message.

The message edit block appears as soon as the Homepage and Lives are disabled.
